Hyderabad: Senior Congress leaders N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy today urged the State government to rename Palamuru Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project after S Jaipal Reddy. Uttam Kumar Reddy said he always treated Jaipal Reddy as his father figure. Venkat Reddy said Jaipal Reddy was a leader without any blot on his political career.
The Congress leaders were recalling the services of late Jaipal Reddy at his 78th birth anniversary celebrations held on the Necklace Road here on Thursday. Council chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, former governor K. Rosaiah, Congress leaders G. Chinna Reddy and V Hanumantha Rao participated in the celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Sukhender Reddy said Jaipal Reddy had played a pivotal role in the formation of Telangana State. He also said the departed leader was responsible for keeping Hyderabad as the State capital. He also pointed out that Jaipal Reddy had worked for bringing Hyderabad Metro Rail Project to the State. The Congress veteran was an inspiration for many leaders of the country, he added.
