CPI chief D Raja condoles Jaipal demise

Hyderabad: CPI General Secretary, D Raja today condoled death of congress leader S Jaipal Reddy who passed. In a press release, Raja said that Jaipal started as a vibrant student activist and leader in Osmania University. Right from the beginning he was attracted towards the ideas of socialism and democracy. He became active in Congress Party. Always smiling, warm hearted and brilliant in articulation, he was an asset to everyone. When Indira Gandhi declared emergency, Jaipal Reddy quit the Congress.

He continued his political activity with Janata Party and later with Janta Dal. He joined back Congress when he felt that strengthening secular forces is the only way to defeat communal NDA. He was Union Minister in Manmohan Singh Cabinet during 2004- 2009. Wherever he was, the Welfare of poor people, the values of Democracy and secularism are very dearer to him. He always maintained cordial relations with Left parties in India particularly with CPI. He played a key role in finalizing Common Minimum Program at the time of U.F Ministry formation and UPA Ministry formation. His loss is irreparable particularly when the country is facing the ongoing rule of communal fascist forces.
CPI expresses deep sorrow and conveys its condolences to the near and dear of his family.(NSS)
