Crypto fraudsters rob Hyderabad Advocate of Rs 55 lakh

Fraudsters lured an Advocate with high profits in cryptocurrency trading and she lost Rs 55 lakh. A resident of Secunderabad found out nearly a month ago that a woman named Ammie added her to a WhatsApp group where regular updates about crypto business were posted.

After following the group’s updates for a few days, Ammie called her and told her about bitcoin trading and profits. A man named Jack introduced her to the bitcoin business and instructed her to download an app. Upon being told that she would need to pay 20 per cent of profits as commission, she agreed.

Upon downloading the app, she started to make small investments with bitcoin. “She made profits at first and later, lured by more profits, invested around Rs 55 lakh and later lost everything,” police said.

Similarly, a man from Basheerbagh lost Rs 10 lakh when he traded cryptocurrencies with fraudsters. On his WhatsApp number, he received a message with a link to a website. On the pretext that he would help him make profits, he was duped out of Rs 10 lakh by a group of people who clicked on the link.

Two cases have been filed and an investigation is ongoing.

Businessman scammed out of Rs.10 Lakh by Cryptocurrency Scam

A resident of Musheerabad received a message on WhatsApp this week with information about cryptocurrency trading and a link to join a ‘BTC group’. He invested around $500 in the WhatsApp group and earned a profit of $100 after joining through the link.

Excited by this, he invested dollars equivalent to roughly Rs.10 lakh within a week, and by the end of the week, his wallet showed a profit of nearly Rs. 1 crore. Conmen told him that when he tried to withdraw funds from the account, he would have to transfer 20 lakh rupees,” Cybercrime officials said, adding that he then contacted the cyber crime police in Hyderabad investigations are underway.
