CS assault case: Delhi Court Issues Notices To CM Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Others; Seeks Response

The Delhi court on Monday issued notices to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and others regarding the revision petition filed by the former Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash in 2018.

Special Judge Geetanjali Goel sought responses from the ministers regarding the plea challenging an earlier order that discharged the politicians. The court had asked them to submit their response in the hearing of the case on November 23.

The review petition read that the Trial Court even while selectively relying and considering the material available and has arrived at the finding that the accused persons without any basis and by applying different yardstick for accused persons regarding the roles in the crime.

The petitioner stated that the accused had well planned and well designed conspiracy to physically assault, humiliate and criminally intimidate Prakash as he was not agreeing to the illegal directions to issue the TV advertisements. The advertisement were regarding the Aam Aadmi Party completing 3 years in office. The issues were regarding the violating of the guidelines of the Supreme Court and other issues related to the rates of such advertisements.

On August 11, the Delhi court dropped charges against Kejriwal, Sisodia and other AAP MLAs including Rajesh Rishi, Nitin Tyagi, Ajay Dutt, Sanjeev Jha, Rajesh Gupta, Madan Lal, Praveen Kumar, Dinesh Mohania and Rituraj Govind.

Furthermore, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sachin Gupta passed an order framing charges against two AAP MLAs, Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal in the case.
The police had registered a case on the complaint of Anshu Prakash who claimed that he was manhandled by the AAP MLA s on the night of Friday 19 and 20, 2018 at Kejriwals’ residence when he had called for a meeting.
