Customs Agents Seize Gold from Passengers at Hyderabad Airport in Recent Smuggling Cases

Customs agents caught a man traveller arriving from Dubai and recovered gold from his possession in a recent incident at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Initially, the passenger was discovered carrying a plastic box containing brown powder, which looked to be a milk drink mix for children. Further research and interrogation revealed, however, that the dark powder was actually powdered gold. Customs agents collected and seized 127 grammes of gold valued at Rs 7,77,621. The investigation is still in progress.

In another incident at the same airport, a female passenger arriving from Dubai on an Emirates flight was detained by customs due to intelligence gathered. When the passenger was searched, it was discovered that she had hidden a packet containing gold paste and two little chains in her underpants. Customs agents collected and seized a total of 726 grammes of gold valued Rs 45,37,500.

Both examples demonstrate customs agents’ efforts to prevent gold smuggling at the airport. The investigation into these instances is still ongoing to ensure that the proper actions are taken.
