Cyberabad Police organised a Blood Donation Camp. CP Sajjanar inaugurates and donates blood

Everyone needs blood. Everyone has blood. But, not many donate. The Blood Stocks in Blood Banks are drying out. In the backdrop of the pandemic, not many blood donors are coming forward. The plight of thalassemia patients is very horrible as there is no sufficient blood is available.

Responding to the society’s cause, the Police whose main job is to maintain law and order protect people have gone beyond their call of duty and organized a Blood Donation Camp here at Gachibowli in the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate Office on Friday morning.

VC Sajjnar, Commissioner of Police not only inaugurated it but also donated blood. According to his colleagues in the commissionerate office, it was the fourth time in the last year  VC Sajjanar has come forward to donate blood and thereby motivate his colleagues.

The blood donation camp was organized for the patients of Osmania Hospital and Thalassemia Sickle Cell Society.

Speaking on the occasion  Sajjanar said, Thalassemia kids, cancer patients, mothers in deliveries need blood. Unfortunately, there is a myth that if they donate blood, their immunity is compromised, which is not true.  Sajjanar dispelled the myth.  There are 6000 Thalassemia kids in the state and they need blood every month.

As you all know Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society (TSCS) is an NGO that has been working since 1998 with the pledge to help Thalassemia patients. Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder and affected patients depend on regular blood transfusion for survival, usually every 2 to 3 weeks. Its objective is to treat all thalassemia children and add years to their lives said  VC Sajjanar.

If you are afraid of going to a hospital you and at least walk into the nearest blood bank and donate blood and save lives, he said and added that Blood is for circulation. All the eligible must come forward to donate the blood. It is safe and you don’t have to worry about anything, Sajjanar said.

As per the Govt of India guidelines, an individual can donate blood after 14 days of either receipt of the Covid-19 vaccine or testing RT-PCR negative, if suffering from Covid-19 disease.

Speaking further Sajjanar added that this is the first camp organized during the second wave.  Nearly 10,500 people and police have donated blood during the first wave to about 17 blood banks.  We will soon be organizing more and more small blood donation camps in the next few days, he shared.

Sajjanar urged people in districts to come forward and donate blood. Similarly, camps may be organized in  Apartments, Residential complexes, Gated Communities, Colonies by following covid protocols.
