Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Confirms Oxygen Crisis In Hospitals Amidst Covid 19 Second Wave

Amidst the sharply rising Covid 19 cases across the national capital, Delhi, there has been a high demand for Oxygen supplies in the hospital. However, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reported that there has been a shortage of oxygen supplies.

Arvind Kejriwal Slams Central Government Over Less Supply Of Oxygen

As per the latest reports, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal addressed a digital conference and said that Delhi is facing “Oxygen crisis” from the past few days. He said that the Central government fixes the quota for all states’s supply of Oxygen. And as per their calculations, Delhi needs 700 tonnes per day of oxygen supply. But the central government has sent over 480 tonnes of Oxygen.

Kejriwal said that they need more Oxygen supplies but they are thankful to the Central government. He added that the prevailing situation in Delhi, the Central government has helped Delhi government a lot in the past few days. They have also assured a smooth supply of oxygen.

He said that the state government is taking multiple steps to improve the medical infrastructure in the city and it will get better in the upcoming days.

Meanwhile, many of the private and government hospitals in the national capital Delhi have been running low on medical oxygen for Covid 19 patients. At the same time, reports suggest that some of the big facilities have received oxygen supplies overnight.

Since Delhi does not have its own source of medical oxygen, the Central government supplies it from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Supreme Court Demands For Centre For “National Plan” 

Earlier today, the Supreme Court of India asked the Central government to come up with a “National Plan” regarding oxygen supplies, essential medicines and method of vaccination going forward. The SC has issued a notice to the Centre on the day when India recorded the world’s biggest surge in Covid 19 cases.

Chief Justice of India SA Bobde said that they want to a national plan on the issue and the hearing will take place tomorrow. This move comes after multiple High Courts across the country have received petitions regarding the supplies oxygen, beds and the antiviral drug Remdesvir.
India recorded a total of 3.14 lakh Covid 19 cases and over 2104 deaths in a day.
