Amid the outrage over the way the Telangana State Wakf Board (TSWB) become dysfunctional due to absence of a permanent CEO, the demand grows for the constitution of a Special Committee to carry out through scrutiny of Accounts, Legal affairs and rent sections of the board which were reportedly not done for years.

There were serious apprehensions doing rounds that the sensitive records and accounts will be manipulated or damaged by the vested interest at the helm of affairs. It is said that contrary to the set procedures, the wakf board function by its own whims and fancies where flattery rules the roost in promotions and appointments.

Moreso, absence of a permanent CEO in the wakf board gave an upper hand to the officials and employees at the helm of affairs at these sensitive sections and known for working as henchmen of their political bosses. It is against this background, the demand intensified for a thorough scrutiny of all the accounts and works being performed by   accounts, legal affairs and rent sections since the formation of Telangana state.

Mohd.Qayyum, a social activist having aware of all the affairs in the Board said, “if the board is really sensitive enough in safeguarding the wakf properties in the city as well as in the state, it should initiate action against all the officials and employees having involved in irregularities and flattery for selfish gains.

Apart from this, he said, Accounts and Legal actions of the board should be run through the staff having professional command over the subject unlike the prevailing situation wherein the officials and employees are working completely against their professions that exposed these sections to vulnerability and discrepancies.

It was also learnt that few of the employees of the board are taking help of their relatives to grab prime properties of wakf and committing irregularities thereby causing heavy damage to the Wakf Board.
