Displaced Vendors of Weekly Market at Shaheen Nagar Seek Help from Municipality

Unhappy with the regular traffic issue caused by the weekly market held mainly on the approach road to Bismillah Colony, Shaheen Nagar under Balapur Mandal, the local residents of nearby colonies have up their ante against the noisy and untidy trade while the shunted out vendors approached the Jalpally officials against shifting of location.

It is said that the weekly market is being held every week near Zam Zam Bakery at Bismillah Colony, Shaheen Nagar but now the vendors were told to shift deep inside an isolated area. Finding the new location completely unsuitable to perform the business, several vendors led by their union leaders approached Jalpally Municipality today seeking permission to perform the business on the same location.

However, the local people said that the weekly market is causing traffic disturbance mainly during the emergency cases as they overpowered the entire approach road leading to several colonies inside the area. Besides, the people are also anxious about the untidy business sense of the vendors and the use of rasping loudspeakers.

There is an element of plausibility in local residents raising objections to the weekly market on the main approach road. “There are regular complaints that the vehicles of both vendors and the customers are occupying the entire approach road leading to traffic issues. In emergency cases, the ambulance can’t be able to reach the area or move out of it due to traffic congestion on the approach road. Sensing the enormity, we have provided them the best feasible place to perform the business,” informed Syed Yahiya, Councilor Ward No. 5, Shaheen Nagar.

“We found the place completely untidy after the weekly market, which led to dispersion of foul smell in the ambient temperature. Besides, a hoard of vehicles causing traffic disturbance on the main road. Also, the vendors are using rasping loud speakers leading to a noisy atmosphere in the residential area,” said Shareef, a resident of the area.

Even there are vendors having no issue with the new place they were assigned to perform the business. “We have no objection with the new place being identified to perform business. Infact the new location is more feasible to do business as there is no objection of traffic here at all unlike the earlier location where we often face issues with the traffic police shunting out the traders all the time to make way for the traffic, said Jawid, a vegetable vendor.
