Don’t force people to share their Aadhar card details

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court today asked the state government to not force the people of the state to share their Aadhar card details during its non-agricultural properties survey. It also asked the state government to not share the Aadhar card details of the individuals with third parties.

A division bench of the HC made these remarks while dealing with a batch of Public Interest Litigations (PIL)s filed on the issue. During the course of the arguments, the petitioners told the High Court that there was a threat of breach of privacy. Responding to this the high court asked the state government as to how it would provide security to the personal data of the individuals.

Responding to this, the advocate general told the HC that the state government was taking all steps to protect the data of the state. The HC made it clear that the newly enacted revenue Act was meant for agricultural land and added that there was no mention of anything about data security.
