Don’t interfere in civil disputes: Owaisi tells AIMIM leaders

Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has advised party corporators and MLAs not to interfere in civic matters unnecessarily. This follows the arrest of AIMIM corporator Nazir Ahmed Honyal in Hubballi, Karnataka, over the stone-pelting incident.

He advised his party workers and corporators not to get involved in any civic or land issues while he attended an event in Hyderabad. He also encouraged them to let the law handle things on its own.

Owaisi addressed the party workers at the event, telling them not to interfere with any kind of land dispute or construction issues.

He said: Earlier, a land dispute took place in an area wherein two of my party members were served notice by the authorities. After this, I called them to the office and spoke to them. The workers accepted the fault and regretted it. In such scenarios, I recommend that you all let the law take its course. You need to refrain from interfering in civil disputes unnecessarily. The government is here to help the people. Don’t create difficulties for the public.

Further, he made it clear he would not sit in silence if his party’s name is tarnished. He warned corporators, MLAs, and party workers not to create any difficulties for the public.

Police have made another arrest after violence broke out during a protest in Hubballi, Karnataka, on April 16. Nazir Ahmed Honyal, a local corporator and AIMIM leader, was charged with allegedly inciting the mob to violence during the protest on April 23.

According to reports, the post appeared to show a saffron flag over a mosque. A crowd swelled outside the police station and violence broke out. Stone-pelting damaged a few properties. Some police officers were injured.

On the Hubballi matter, Owaisi stated: Yes, AIMIM leaders have been arrested. Congress leaders have also been arrested. In our opinion, however, AIMIM leaders are innocent. Let the court decide.
