Don’t worry Govt will purchase complete Paddy yield: Kamalakar tells farmers

Civil Supplies Minister, G Kamalakar today stated that the government will procure total crops from farmers.

Addressing media persons the Minister said that the government procured 46 lakh metric tons of paddy from the farmers so far.  The Minister said that the government will purchase complete crops from the farmers including wet crops due to untimely rains.  He claimed that Telangana is only the state in India to procure total paddy yield and bought 50 percent above so far.

Each acre got about 32 to 35 quintals paddy and asked FCII to procure 82 lakh Mt crops. We will purchase all the crops till the last seed though it may be delayed due to the Corona pandemic, and workers shortage he assured.

The Minister said that the government is purchasing the sane from 1 lakh Mt to 2 lakh Mt a day. We expect 1.32 lakh Mt paddy by year-end or so, a record, as the yield was almost double this year with 52 lakh Mt while it was 32 lakh Mt last year. As paddy grown up to 52 lakh acres this time in the state the officials concerned were instructed to get all the farm stocks from the farming community.

Kamalakar further said that about 80 lakh metric tons of paddy is expected by June end. We gave instructions to the officials to see that the crops are purchased without causing any inconvenience to the farmers.  They will get timely payment for their farm products he remarked. Through purchase centers, the rest of the paddy will be procured he said adding that the farmers followed KCR instructions to grow more paddy this time.

In the combined state Telangana region very little production of paddy and now in a separate state, we see bumper crops the minister claimed.  The state is the biggest contributor to national paddy production. This was achieved through vision and plan by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao,  the civil supplies minister said. As per his directions, the farmers are growing a wide variety of crops to get benefits.  Officials concerned instructed the farmers for use of fertilizers, and practices to gain, he said.

He attributed more crops and farm products to the foresight of the Chief Minister.  Rythu Bandhu, free 24 hours power, Rythu Bhima, and newly formed Rythu Vedikas are helpful to push for a bumper crop production.

The minister stated that the Telangana is witnessing a golden garbed his time the paddy grown in 52 lakh acres across the state. There is no need for worry as the government is ready to procure total farm yield, he added.
