ED Called Farooq for Questioning

Farooq Abdullah, ex-Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister has been summoned for questioning at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Srinagar on Monday regarding alleged misappropriation of funds when he was the chairman of J&K Cricket Association.

As the Enforcement Directorate scrutinized the National Conference NC chief Farooq Abdullah for supposed abnormalities in the Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association, the NC hit back at the ruling BJP indulging it for enjoying a “witch hunt” days after the UT’s standard parties joined to look for the recovery of Article 370.

As per the details, ED had given a summons to the former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and called him for questioning regarding the alleged misappropriation of Rs 43 crore when he was chairman of J&K Cricket Association.

As reported, the BCCI had offered capital to Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association from

the year 2002 to 2011 as a grant for the advancement of cricket in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which Rs 43.69 crore was allegedly siphoned off.

Farooq Abdullah’s son and likewise a former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said there were no raids being led at the home of Farooq Abdullah and the calling of his father by the ED is only a political grudge.

Omar said that the party will be responding to this ED summons shortly. This is nothing smaller than political vendetta coming days after the creation of the People’s Alliance for the Gupkar Declaration. To place the record straight no raids are being carried out at Dr Sahib’s residence.

He was pointing towards the partnership formed by six parties from Jammu and Kashmir for recovery of the special status of the erstwhile state as it existed prior to August 5 in the previous year.

The NC stated that after failing to politically battle party president Farooq Abdullah, BJP has resorted to employing its offices for the job. The ED calling to Dr Farooq Abdullah is surely the outcome of the unity that Dr Sahib has been able to form amongst mainstream political parties in J&K. This is the cost one faces when opposed to BJP’s ideology and divisive politics.

The NC furthermore stated recent history was an observer to how the BJP had been utilizing coercive and threatening measures through different departments to target the Opposition chiefs over the nation.
