ED Extends Summons Deadline for K Kavitha in Delhi Excise Policy Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has told the Supreme Court that the deadline of summons given to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case will be extended by 10 days. The agency had previously scheduled Kavitha’s appearance for Friday.

The ED’s Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S V Raju stated that Kavitha had previously appeared before the ED and that if she found any difficulty, the summons date would be extended. Raju further stated that Kavitha had appeared twice before the agency.

Kavitha’s counsel asked for the summons to be postponed until September 26, when the case is scheduled to be considered by the Supreme Court. The court agreed and is likely to hear Kavitha’s petition challenging the ED’s summons as well as her request for protection from arrest.

Kavitha claims that the ED’s notification is politically motivated, and the BRS’s legal staff will decide the next steps. She earlier appeared before the ED for interrogation in the matter in March and refuted all allegations leveled against her.

The issue is about alleged anomalies in the Delhi Excise Policy, and Kavitha is being questioned about her possible role.
