Scientific Advisor Suggests Preparing For Third Covid 19 Wave

Addressing the Union Health Ministry press conference, VijayRaghavan said that the third phase is inevitable as the virus continues to rise across the nation. However, currently, it is difficult to predict the timeline but we all must prepare for the third wave of coronavirus.
Talking about monitoring the Covid 19 vaccines, he said that there is a need for up-gradation to deal with the new strains. He noted that the variants are transmitted the same way as the original one.
He said that the new strains of the Covid 19 don’t have the same properties as the new kinds of transmission. But it infects humans in a manner that makes it more transmissible as soon as it enters the human body. Then it makes more copies and goes on like the original one.
VijayRaghavan further emphasised that the current vaccines are effective against the existing variants. And assured that the scientists in India and across the world are constantly working towards predicting the possible new variants and act against them as quickly as possible by warning about it early and developing tools to contain the same.
