Fake beneficiaries swindling welfare scheme benefits in Rajendranagar

Though the Telangana government has introduced Shadi Mubarak and Kalyana Laxmi schemes – to ensure a financial assistance of Rs.1,00,116 for the poor parents intended to solemnize marriage of their daughters, the benefits are being robbed by some fake beneficiaries who are using fake certificates to claim the monetary benefit.

The misappropriation came to light recently in Rajendranagar where the revenue authorities find fake certificates submitted along with the application to claim the benefit under the scheme.

Taken aback by the development the revenue authorities are now deep diving into the junk to find more such anomalies before taking a firm stand against the fraudulent. It is said that atleast 18 applications were found with fake and forged certificates to claim the benefit under the schemes.

During the verifying of applications, the officials came across about the sleight of hand in the fake SSC certificates wherein a gap of five years had been found between the date of examination and the date of issuance. This has prompted the officials to delve into all the applications which were already cleared.

According to sources atleast 18 applications were found with fake SSC and Birth Certificates. Out of 18 such cases, 10 were found with fake SSC certificates while other applications were found with fake birth certificates. Most of the fake SSC certificates are carrying the name of a particular school located in Karvan area.

“Surprisingly, one birth certificate filed by the applicant was found to be a death certificate of another person. The number of the death certificate was used to prepare a fresh birth certificate of the candidate. Taking cognizance of the issue, the authorities have informed their higher ups about the same and are further investigating the matter,” the sources informed.

According to officials, during the last seven months nearly 1340 applications have been submitted in MRO office Rajendra Nagar under both the schemes. A conservative estimation shows that nearly 225 applications every month are being submitted in MRO office Rajendranagar.

Rajedranagar mandal largely consists of five GHMC wards such as Suleman Nagar, Shastripuram Rajendranagar, Attapur, and Mylardevpally. Among these five wards Suleman Nagar, Shastripuram and part of Attapur are considered as densely populated slum areas.
