Fine rice to be supplied to ration card holders from April 1: Jagan

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday said they would supply premier quality rice to the beneficiaries of ration cards being issued under the public distribution system from April 1.

During a review meeting held on the issue at the CM’s camp office, AP civil supplies minister Kodali Nani and officials of the department took part. The officials apprised the CM of details of the stocks available in the State now. They told the CM that 26.63 lakh tons of rice was required to implement the scheme and added that the State has a stock of 28.74 lakh quintals of rice.

The officials also showed the samples of the premier quality rice to the CM during the meeting. The State government would initially implement the scheme in each constituency of a district from April 1 in special packets. The State government would set up 99 packing units at 30 places in the State for the purpose.
