Hyderabad: The District Fisheries Co-op. Society here is organizing Fish Food Festival with the active participation of the primary Fisheries Co-op. Societies of Hyderabad district for three days beginning from February 28 to March 1 at NTR Stadium (Telangana Kala Bharathi).
A total of 22 fish food courts (stalls) are being arranged and they will remain open from 11 am to 10.30 pm every day. The food courts are run by different fisher co-op. societies of Hyderabad consisting mostly of women groups serving as many as 40 different cuisines made with fish, prawn, and crab at reasonable prices. The stalls will be managed by trained and experienced cooks.
The National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) and the Telangana State Fishermen Cooperative Societies Federation Ltd. (TSFCOF), Hyderabad are jointly financially supporting the Fish Food Festival.
The main aim of the Fish Food Festival is to promote the consumption of fish by the public and popularize different cuisines made out of fish. The fisherwomen groups will get self-employment opportunities on the sale of fish and value-added products. The Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Fisheries and Cinematography will inaugurate the Fish Food Festival on Friday at 11 am.
