For Hyderabad’s development, join hands with State, KTR Tells BJP

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said on Wednesday that growth should take place without being hampered by political disputes, and he urged corporators and Bharatiya Janata Party officials to do everything they could to contribute to the city’s development.

Exhorting the Opposition corporators to persuade their national leaders, including Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, to secure Rs.10,000 crore from the Centre for the city’s development, including the Musi Project and Nala development works, Rao said the BJP’s leaders, including Kishan Reddy, would be rewarded if the funds were obtained from the Centre.

Noting that, while the State government was revamping stormwater drains with Rs 1,000 crore, the Union government had yet to sanction even a single rupee for flood relief in the city, Rao said that the Centre, being a “bigger government,” could chip in with double the share for whatever developmental work the State initiated.

Speaking after laying the groundwork for the Strategic Nala Development Programme works in Bandlaguda, Nagole, the Minister also announced the approval of a proposal to establish a Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences in the LB Nagar constituency. He stated that once the issue with the Kothapet Fruit Market was resolved, the facility will be ready in 18 months.

The TIMS in LB Nagar would eliminate the need for residents to travel all the way to Gandhi Hospital or NIMS for healthcare, he said, adding that in addition to such facilities, a series of flyovers and underpasses were built with Rs.672 crore, and the constituency’s stormwater network drain network was revamped with Rs.103.25 crore.

The Minister was accompanied by Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi, Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd Chairman and LB Nagar MLA Sudheer Reddy, who had previously inaugurated the Bairamalguda Left Hand Side Flyover and LB Nagar Right Hand Side Underpass.
