Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram Slams Central Government Over Sinking The 130 Crore Population Ship

In a jab against the Central Government, Congress leader and former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on Saturday referred to a sinking boat with 130 crore people.

Congress Leader Slams Central Government Over Mismanagement of Covid Situation

As per the latest reports, Chidambaram took to Twitter to slam the Central Government. His tweet read,  “Re-tweeting Health Minister (original tweet was invisible) “May Day! May Day! The Ship IN 2021 with 130 cr on board is sinking. Save Us! At least Save Me!”

He said that because of the mismanagement of the Covid situation in the country on the hands of the Central government, the ship (India) that carries 130 crore people is sinking. This comes after the country witnessed yet another highest spike of 3,86,452 active Covid 19 cases on Friday.

It was the ninth day in a row on Friday when India has recorded more than 3 lakh cases with 3000 casualties from the past three days. On Thursday India witnessed 3,645 deaths, highest fatalities in a day.

Only 6 States To Start Third Phase of Covid Vaccination from May 1

As reported by various sources, only six states across India will be able to start vaccination for citizens from  May 1 for 18 to 44 years. This includes Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Odisha. Even in these states, vaccinations are limited to certain districts.

In Maharashtra, which is the worst affected state in India of Covid 19, only three lakh Covid vaccines have been distributed so far. This comes after Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced that the vaccinations will be distributed for free to everyone and the state will bear the cost of the same. Both Pune and Mumbai got 20,000 doses of Covid vaccine and other areas received between 3000-10,000 vaccine doses.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope spoke to the media and said that they are starting the vaccination drive in a small way as they are still short of vaccination doses. But the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech have said that they’ll be able to provide 13 lakh doses of the Covid 19 vaccine in May.
