Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao said on Tuesday that Telangana is a model for the entire country in terms of women’s welfare.
With Telangana celebrating Women’s Welfare Day as part of the state’s Formation Day celebrations, the BRS leader took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the state government’s women’s welfare initiatives.
“She is not half of the sky, she is the sky,” KTR tweeted, adding that women are not just half of the welfare system, but the key component.
The BRS leader claimed that the KCR government is taking care of everyone., from newborn baby girls to elderly women.
He described the provision of nutrition kits to pregnant women as the first step toward establishing a healthy Telangana.
“If a baby girl is born it is as if Goddess Lakshmi has entered the house,” he wrote, saying that Rs 13,000 are given along with KCR kit to make every birth a blessing.
KTR also mentioned residential schools for girls in order to provide them with quality education on par with corporate institutions.
The minister discussed how state police “She Teams” act as a protective shield for girls and how “We Hub” trains women to be entrepreneurs.
The BRS mentioned 50 percent reservation for women in local institutions, 100 percent reservation in market committees, distribution of sarees during Bathukamma festival, financial assistance for marriage of girls under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, and monthly pension for single women and widows among other schemes in a series of tweets.
KTR went as far as to say that Telangana has no competition in terms of the welfare of women and their empowerment.
