GHMC Faces Criticism Over Link Road Encroachments

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) appears to have overlooked or neglected the existence of link roads while implementing new road construction projects to alleviate traffic congestion in the city.

A resident of Sultan Bazar, Koti, named Yaishwaira, has raised concerns, alleging that a specific link road in the area has been encroached upon, and GHMC officials have not taken any corrective action.

Yaishwaira Nandwana stated, “Despite obtaining three court orders in 2021, 2022, and 2023 from the High Court, addressing encroachments near House number 4-5-756/1, near Badichowdi, Sultan Bazar, the GHMC has failed to enforce the removal of the encroaching wall on the road.” In an effort to address the issue, Yaishwaira submitted a memorandum to GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose.

The Commissioner has assured a resolution, stating that GHMC officials will take appropriate action. Yaishwaira emphasized the significance of the road for approximately 30 families, expressing hope that the GHMC Commissioner’s intervention will lead to a resolution.

In the recent Praja Vani initiative, GHMC received a total of 138 applications, with 37 submitted at the head office, 39 in Kukatpally zone, 29 in Serilingampally zone, 12 in LB Nagar, 10 in Charminar, 10 in Secunderabad zone, and one complaint received in Khairatabad zone.
