Give sports funds to Telangana: Srinivas Goud urges Kiran Rejiju

Hyderabad: Telangana Sports Minister V Srinivas Goud today urged the Centre to offer funds towards facilities, infrastructure, and equipment in the sports sector, schools and stadiums to encourage sportspersons.

From Hyderabad, Srinivas Goud has participated in a video conference addressed by union sports minister Kiran Rejiju from Delhi on sports and games. Both have discussed the need for the development of sports and games in a big way.

Srinivas apprised Rejiju of the sports facilities and programs being taken up. As per directions from Chief Minister,  K Chandrasekhar Rao the sports ministry has taken steps for sports development. He also informed that efforts are being made to improve infrastructure and facilities.

He has sought Kiran Rejiju to release funds to the state for sports development. Goud said that 2 per cent jobs are reserved for sportspersons, 0.5 reservations being offered in higher education. The minister further said that a sports school is located in 250 acres and developed with all facilities.

Goud urged the Union minister to instruct the officials to release the funds as usual. He also said that the Union minister has responded positively to the release of the funds and necessary support to Telangana State.
