Government Will Take Legal Action Against DMK President MK Stalin, Says Health Minister

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Health Minister C.Vijayabaskar on Tuesday stated the government will take legal action against DMK president M.K.Stalin for his false statement relating to the demise of the Agriculture Minister R.Doraikkannu.

Mr. Vijayabaskar accused Mr. Stalin in a statement of being involved in “cheap politics” by giving “false statements”.

Doraikkannu passed away in Kauvery Hospital because of COVID-19 on October 31 at 11.15 p.m.

In a https://twitter.com/mkstalin/status/1326124038289158146?s=20given here, Vijayabaskar said it is unfortunate to have Stalin as the head of the Opposition who is attempting to obtain political mileage even in death.

Stalin, pointing to some media reports, had said the demise of Doraikkannu was officially permitted to be announced only after the family members of the late Minister had agreed to give back the money that had been given to him by the ruling party.  Mr. Stalin had claimed, Only after an assurance for returning the money was given, was his death was declared.

Stalin additionally referred to the arrest of individuals close to Doraikkannu alleging accounts were not submitted for the amount that had been allegedly given to the late Minister.

Mr. Vijayabaskar stated the ex-Minister was given the best medical treatment. Neither the clinic, which treated him nor the government is hiding anything about his health or the treatment given to him, the Minister’s statement said.

Listing out the information about the treatment given to the late Minister Vijayabaskar said the Kauvery Hospital also had given regular medical bulletins about Doraikkannu’s health condition.

According to Kauvery Hospital’s death summary, Doraikkannu passed away because of ‘septic shock’ and ‘Covid Pneumonia’.

The summary said that Doraikkannu’s condition got worse and he endured an asystolic arrest at 10.15 pm and he was, in the end, declared dead at 11.15 pm on October 31.
