Hyderabad: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has termed the Year 2021 as the Year of Protection in comparison to 2020 as the Year of Pandemic.
“We are entering a new phase with this new year. The governments are taking all possible steps to give protection to us through vaccination to prevent the Covid-19. This New Year can be called the Year of Protection,” she said.
The Governor was addressing after the launch of the e-diary developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) at the Raj Bhavan, here, on Friday.
Referring to the massive efforts going on at different laboratories in Hyderabad to come out with the effective vaccine for Covid-19, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said that India was emerging as the leader in vaccine supply and distribution to the world. It has supplied medicines to around 150 countries during the lockdown.
Especially, Hyderabad is turning out to the pharma capital of the world through its massive capacity to develop, produce, and distribute vaccines.
“Recognising the importance of Hyderabad and to encourage and motivate the scientists, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi too visited the Bharat Biotech in Genome Valley, here. We must be very proud of Hyderabad’s role in vaccine efforts,” she added.
At the same time, the Governor urged the people to be cautious and strictly adhere to the Covid-19 preventive norms and added that we only have got fatigued, but not the Coronavirus.
The virus is still there and a new strain has come up. We must continue to strictly adhere to preventive norms like maintaining social distance, wearing masks, and washing and sanitizing.
Saluting the first line warriors for their selfless services and sacrifices during the last 10 months for saving us, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan advised the people to mark the New Year celebrations to salute the frontline warriors.
Earlier, the priests from TTD and Yadadri temple have given ceremonial ashirvachanam to the first couple Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan and her husband Dr. P. Soundararajan, a renowned Nephrologist.
The Governor appreciated the e-diary initiative by the NIC in adherence to the advice by the Central government not to print the hard copies of the diaries and calendars.
Advisors to the Governor, NIC representatives, and other senior officers of the Raj Bhavan were present.
