Govt steps for adequate Urea quota: Niranjan

Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today stated that the state government will take all steps to provide adequate urea stocks for farmers. There will be no shortage of urea quota in the state, he said. He said that the government has instructed the officials to take necessary measures to ensure that the farmers in all districts and mandals get adequate urea for farming activity.

The government has urged the centre to release the quota of Urea to the state, the minister said. He informed that the Centre has so far supplied to us 3.97 lakh metric tons of urea out of demand for 8.50 lakh metric tons. Niranjan also said that at present we have put in place 2.12 lakh metric tons of urea stocks in all districts. There is no need of panicky as the government is taking steps to avoid shortage he added. The minister also said that the government has written to the centre to release total quota allotted to Telangana state on August 19. A letter to Union Agriculture and Fertilisers Minister Narendra Singh Tomar was addressed  for the same,  he said. We are expecting that the Centre will respond and release the rest of quota of urea to us, he added.(NSS)
