GTA 5 to be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X on March 15

Grand Theft Auto V will be released on the next-generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/ X consoles on March 15 according to Rockstar Games.

GTA 5 will be able to fully utilise the graphical prowess of a PS5 or an Xbox Series S/ X when it is released on the latest generation of consoles, as well as transfer Story Mode progress from older generation consoles.

Rockstar will also release a standalone version of GTA Online for next-generation consoles, which will be free for the first three months for select users, as well as the ability to bypass the GTA 5 Story Mode prologue before entering GTA Online.

According to a recent Rockstar Games post, GTA 5 will have improved graphics on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, including 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, HDR, and raytracing, as well as faster loading times and immersive 3D audio support. Gamers will also be able to use platform-specific features on newer consoles, such as advanced haptic feedback on the PlayStation DualSense controllers.

According to Rockstar, those who have previously played GTA 5 on their PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles can pick up right where they left off by transferring saves with a one-time migration option. The announcement was made alongside confirmation from the publisher that it was working on the next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series, dubbed GTA 6. While the final title has not yet been revealed, Rockstar has stated that active development for the next game is “well underway.”

Meanwhile, Rockstar is planning to release a standalone version of GTA Online for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles, with three months of free access for PlayStation 5 owners. Gamers will be able to bypass the GTA 5 Story Mode prologue before entering GTA Online, granting them access to in-game GTA$ currency and allowing them to begin their Biker, Executive, Nightclub Owner, or Gunrunner business. According to the company, GTA Online for the latest consoles will also include Hao’s Special Works auto shop for upgrading vehicles designed for the latest-gen consoles.
