Gujarat CM Tests Positive For Coronavirus After Fainting In Rally

While the Covid 19 vaccines are on a roll-out, another Chief Minister of India has tested positive. As per the reports, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani tested positive for Coronavirus.

Gujarat CM Goes In Quarantine For Two Weeks

On Sunday night, the Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani’s sample was taken for the coronavirus test. The results showed him positive for the coronavirus. Reports suggest that he will be kept in quarantine for two weeks as he gets treated for Covid 19.

As per the quarantine guidelines, he will not be allowed to have any visitors. Doctors will keep a check on his health twice a day to keep track of his condition. Everyone who has been in contact with the Chief Minister shall also be tested for Coronavirus. He is currently admitted in the UN Mehta Hospital.

This comes after he had collapsed on stage during an election speech in Vadodara on Sunday evening. He was campaigning for the elections for local bodies in six Municipal corporations. And the elections are scheduled to be conducted from February 22, 2021. However, he collapsed in the middle of the speech and was then taken to the hospital in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, Ahmedabad. Dr. Vijay Shah from SSG hospital reportedly went with the CM.

Reports suggest that the BJP leader Bharat Danger revealed that the CM wasn’t feeling well from the past couple of days before the rally. But he insisted on not cancelling the meeting and later decided to attend the same.

Rupani attended the first meeting in Jamnagar on Saturday and the second in Vadodara, where he fainted on stage.

Covid 19 Vaccine For 50+ Age Groups Likely To Start In March

Earlier this year, India started the Covid 19 vaccine campaign all across the nation. In the first batch, the vaccine was given to the frontline workers and the Healthline workers. They comprise around three crores people across the country.

In a press briefing today, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that the government is closely administering the vaccines and the situation of coronavirus in India. He said that there have been no new cases of Coronavirus reported in the last seven days from at least 188 districts in India. He further said that the Covid Vaccines for the age groups of 50 years and above is likely to start from March. However, an expert group is yet to decide on the price and the payment of the vaccine from the people being vaccinated.

The report suggests that so far India has gifted 5.5 million Covid 19 vaccines to over 20 countries across the world under their vaccine diplomacy. Canadian Prime Minister in a recent call with India Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated him for the efforts to curb the pandemic around the world.
