Gunda Prakash Rao elected Warangal Mayor

Hyderabad : TRS leader and corporator from 26th division of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) Gunda Prakash Rao was unanimously elected as Mayor of the GWMC here on Saturday at a special meeting presided over by the district collector Prashant Jeevan Patil.

The 27th  Division corporator Vaddiraj Ganesh proposed the name of Gunda Prakash Rao for the mayor post. With no other candidate from any party, presiding officer Patil  has announced the 65-year-old Gunda Prakash Rao elected as the new Mayor.

Speaking to the reporters after the election,  Prakash Rao said he would strive hard to see that all the development works under different schemes would be expedited and implemented properly. “I first of all thank TRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for announcing me as the party candidate for the post. I also promise to the people that I would live up to the expectations of the people,” he added.

Prakash Rao worked as vice-chairman of the Warangal municipality in the past.  He would remain in the post for nearly two years. The Mayor election was necessitated following the election of the Nannapuneni Narender, who was the mayor, as the MLA from Warangal East constituency. MLAs D Vinay Bhaskar, N Narender, A Ramesh, T Rajaiah, MPs P Dayakar, Banda Prakash, party election observer Gyadari Balamalu and other TRS leaders have congratulated Gunda Prakash on being elected as the Mayor.  (NSS)
