Harish Rao lashes out at BJP for its opportunistic politics

Finance Minister T Harish Rao slammed the BJP for its opportunistic politics, stating that while Telangana built drying platforms for farmers’ convenience, the BJP-led Union government demanded repayment of Rs.150 crore from the State for doing so.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had stated that till his last breath, he would not permit the installation of meters at agriculture pump sets. On the contrary, the BJP government was working against the farmers’ interests, he said while addressing a meeting at Nandi Medaram at Peddapalli on Thursday.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi assures that there will be no privatisation of Singareni at Ramagundam, but takes a U turn in New Delhi,” said Harish Rao, adding this was testimony of BJP’s opportunistic politics.

All sections in the state were prospering under the Chief Minister’s leadership. The BJP leaders were getting nervous as the State government issued recruitment notices, he said.

The Finance Minister also slammed the Congress and Telugu Desam parties for pretending to care about the farming community. Previously, the Congress government had caused a lot of distress among farmers, and many were forced to commit suicide in the state, he said.

In response to Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s claims about farmer welfare, the Finance Minister reminded that the former Chief Minister had commented that agriculture was futile.

Harish Rao also slammed Chandrababu Naidu for the injustice meted out to Telangana during the latter’s nine-year regime in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. He characterized Naidu’s public meeting in Khammam on Wednesday as a desperate attempt to woo the BJP into an electoral alliance in Andhra Pradesh.

The Minister recalled that the people of Andhra Pradesh had rejected and expelled Naidu as a result of his failed policies. He was now attempting to cheat the people of Telangana promising to develop the State.
