Hathra’s Victims Ashes Will Not Be Immersed Family Told

Hours after the political parties departed and the dust settled in the fields, the family of the Hathra’s victims told that they will not immerse the ashes of their daughter. Unless it is confirmed that it was her, who was cremated in the late night by the police officials.

The cremation took place on September 30 around 3.a.m. The Hathra’s victims brother told “Humko kya pata ki wohi hamari behen thi, We did not even see her face, I collected the ashes on grounds of humanity because it must have been someone’s body if not my sister’s and I did not want the ashes to be trampled upon,”

A Nacro-polygraph test will not be submitted as we are not the ones who are lying, the brother further told.

He told “They should conduct these truth tests on the accused and the policemen who are trying to twist the narrative,”

According to the victim’s relative the 19-year old victim was raped by four upper-caste men in her village which led to her death, six days ago. She was cremated by the police, without the presence of her family.

The cremation was done in a small area in the middle of a millet field in the village.

The 19-year-old victim has two brothers and two sisters.

It is being said that District Magistrate Praveen Laxar allegedly misbehaved with the family and even threatened them. The victim’s family is upset that no action has yet been taken against him

He told “We have complained against the district magistrate to everyone who has visited us but no action has been taken against him,”

AICC General Secretary, UP, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took posted some questions on Twitter and raised questions for the state by the family of the victim.

“The family says they have collected the mortal remains of their daughter but how can they be sure the remains belong to their daughter since her body was cremated using petrol in the dead of the night without the consent of the kin.”

Vadra speaking for the family told that, “The victim’s family wants an SC-led judicial probe, they want that the suspended Hathras DM should not be appointed at any other crucial post. They are asking why their daughter was cremated with petrol and why are they being threatened. They are saying where’s the surety the mortal remains they have collected are of their daughter. The family has the right to these answers and the UP government will have to provide these answers.”
