Hawala racket: Seven of Gujarat held for carrying Rs 5 crore in City

Hyderabad: On a tip-off, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, nabbed seven persons near Jubilee Hills Check-post, for carrying out illegal money transfer and seized cash of Rs five crores, one Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Car, one Hyundai Acent Car and one Honda Activa from their possession.

The accused were identified as Vipul Kumar Patel, 39, Manager in P.Umesh Chandra & Company, Banjara Hills; Shailesh Bhai, 49, Cash Transporter, residing at Masjid Galli, Kachiguda; Vipul Kumar Patel, 29, cash transporter, residing at Hyderguda; Arjun Labhuji, 28, Car driver, Rajesh Rameshbai Patel,  31,, Parcel work, RKS Apartments, Hyderguda; Upendra Kumar Patel, 55, Cash transporter, residing at Masjid Galli, Kachiguda, Patel Chetan Kumar, 39, Cash Transporter. All the accused belong to Gujarat State.

Police said they received information that the accused persons were carrying Rs 5 crore in a car and were waiting at Jubilee Hills Checkpost. The police rushed to the spot and arrested them for not having valid documents. Inquiry revealed that the accused were running illegal money transfer business i.e. supplying cash without any accounts to their customers at 0.6% interest by taking orders over Cell Phones through P.Umesh Chandra & Company at Ahmedabad, Surat and Mumbai headed by Harshad Bhai Patel and one Umesh both residents of Ahmedabad.
