HC Declines to admit writ of Ravi Prakash, Likely to be arrested

Hyderabad: Former chief executive officer of TV.9 news channel Ravi Prakash received a jolt in Telangana High Court on Wednesday with the latter declining to admit his writ petition  urging the HC to declare the cases filed against him by Cyber crime police as illegal and unconstitutional.

The HC observed that there was no need to hear the petition as a lunch motion petition. It also rejected his anticipatory bail petition on the same ground. The former CEO approached the HC following the expiry of the deadline fixed by the cyber crime police for Ravi Prakash to depose before them for an inquiry in connection with a case filed against him. The police not only booked forgery and data theft offences against Ravi Prakash, but also served notice under Section 41 directing him to appear before them. With the High Court rejecting his petition, it is likely that Ravi Prakash might be arrested by the cyber crime police. However, Ravi Prakash was absconding to avoid his possible arrest. (NSS)
