Heavy Rains Expected in Telangana Until September 29

The Indian Meteorological Department – Hyderabad (IMDH) has forecast heavy rainfall in Hyderabad and Telangana until September 29, with a yellow alert issued for Telangana. All six zones in Hyderabad, including Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally, are expected to experience rainfall or thundershowers until September 28.

According to the IMD, on Sunday, the city received evening rainfall, with Bandlaguda recording the highest rainfall of 12 mm. In this monsoon season, Telangana has received an average rainfall of 840.1 mm, surpassing the normal rainfall of 717.3 mm. Hyderabad has also seen an average rainfall of 724.1 mm, exceeding the normal rainfall of 589.5 mm.

Telangana weather expert T. Balaji tweeted, “Expect widespread rains in Telangana, mainly during the evening and night. While Hyderabad missed out yesterday, today’s conditions favor evening-to-night rains. Let’s hope we won’t miss them today.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad and various regions in the state of Telangana, including areas like Khairatabad, Ameerpet, Panjagutta, SR Nagar, Sanath Nagar, Borabanda, Kapra, ECIL, Malkajgiri, Musheerabad, Kukatpally, Hayathnagar, Alwin Colony, Moosapet, Pragathi Nagar, Nizampet, Bachupally, Saidabad, Malakpet, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Uppal, and Banjara Hills, have been hit by afternoon rainfall. This has led to waterlogging in several locations.

Jayashankar Bhupalpalli district has experienced heavy rainfall, resulting in flooding in some areas. In Edatherepally, coal production has been disrupted due to the downpour. In Mahabubabad district, heavy rains have been widespread, impacting transportation, with the overflowing bridge in K Samudram Mandal causing road closures.

Over the past two days, multiple areas in the state have witnessed substantial rainfall, prompting flood alerts from the Meteorological Department.
