Hindu Mahasabha Members Arrested For Praying In Taj Mahal

Hindu Mahasabha activists recently put under arrest for attempting to offer prayers in the Taj Mahal. Three people have been arrested so far in the case.

CISF Personnel Handed The Guilty To Local Police

As per the reports, the three people arrested in the case also includes a woman. They were caught by the CISF personnel deployed in the Taj Mahal premises. Soon after taking them into custody, they were handed over to the police.

The police has booked the three accused in the Indian Penal Code Section 153-A which prohibits people for promoting enmity on religious grounds. They are currently with the Tajganj police.

The three activists who were arrested are Meena Diwakar (Provincial Chief of the Hindu Mahasabha), Jitendra Kushwaha (District-in-charge) and Vishal Singh. Singh was the one who entered the Taj Mahal’s premises and offered water to Lord Sun near the central Tank.

The incident happened on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.

Hindu Mahasabha Activists Protest In Front Of Police Station

The other members of the Hindu Mahasabha staged protests outside the police station against the arrest of the three accused. They demand their release.

The in-charge of the Tajganj police station, Umesh Tripathi said that both Kushwaha and Vishal have been taken under judicial custody for 14 days. But Diwakar has been issued a notice because fell ill and was rushed to the S.N Medical College.

This is the second incident that has happened in the past three years. A similar incident happened back in November 2018 as well. A group of women activists performed puja in the Taj Mahal mosque. They claimed that the Taj Mahal was initially a Shiva Temple. They even called it Tejo Mahalaya.
