Hong Kong Bans Commercial Flights From India, Pakistan and Philippines Amidst Rising Covid 19 Cases

Amidst the rising Covid 19 cases, the Hong Kong government has announced that all commercial flights from India, Pakistan and the Philippines are banned for 14 days.

 

Hong Kong Records Second Mutated Strain of Covid 19

As per the latest reports, the announcement was made on Sunday when the authorities recorded the second case of mutated strain of Covid 29. Following which the Hong Kong government announced that they will banning all commercial flights from India, Pakistan and Philippines for 14 days as the countries are “extremely high-risk for Covid 19”. They also said that anyone who has spent more than two hours in any of these countries is also not allowed to enter Hong Kong.

People who are already in quarantine in Hong Kong and travelled from these three countries will take an additional test on the 26th day of their arrival in Hong Kong.

Additionally, the health officials earlier planned to ban Cathay Pacific’s Manila flights, and India’s Vistara services from Mumbai for a period of two weeks. This came after a couple of passengers tested positive for Covid 19 once they arrived in Hong Kong.

47 Passengers Test Covid 19 Positive In Hong Kong

As per the reports released by the South China Morning Post, in a flight of 188 seats, 47 people travelling from a Vistara flight from Delhi to Hong Kong tested positive for Covid 19 on April 4. The route has however been banned for two weeks now.

On Sunday, three passengers arriving from the Vistara Flight also tested positive for Covid 19 on the Mumbai-Hong Kong route. As per the reports so far, as of Sunday, Hong Kong has registered a total of 30 new Covid 19 cases. Out of these, 29 cases are imported. The Hong Kong tally has now reached to 11,683. And the death count is 209.
