Hyderabad: Beautification works of NTR Marg started by HMDA

In around three months, the 800-meter stretch alongside Hussainsagar – from the Indira Gandhi statue circle in Khairatabad to Lumbini Park – will have a completely new look, with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) kicking off beautification works opposite the upcoming Secretariat.

The HMDA intends to build this road along the lines of the Tank Bund. The all-new look will add glitz to the city’s upcoming Formula-E race on February 11, 2023. Formula-E is the second-largest World Championship race after F1. The established footpaths, dustbins, and kerbstones on the stretch will be removed as part of the beautification work and replaced with C&D plants.

According to sources, NTR Marg along the Hussainsagar will see a similar development. HMDA will renovate the lakeside footpath on NTR Marg by laying flamed, bush hammered granite, including granite kerbstones, and installing cast-iron railings and streetlights with ornamental poles and fixtures at a cost of ‘6.05 crore.

It was reported that during Sunday Fundays, when thousands of visitors gather to enjoy pleasant evenings, the Tank Bund beautification has been well received.

The officials also stated that with the construction of new structures such as the Secretariat and Martyr’s Memorial, the State Government wishes to improve the streetscape of NTR Marg. As a result, the HMDA has proposed renovating the NTR Gardens and Lumbini Park by introducing new themes in order to attract more visitors to the locations.

These initiatives are part of elaborate plans that have been developed to develop and carry out beautification works on the stretch, which is already one of the city’s most popular spots.

As per the reports, it will cost 6.05 crore for HMDA to renovate NTR Marg’s lakeside footpath with flamed, bush-hammered granite, granite kerbstones, cast-iron railings, and streetlights with ornamental poles and fixtures.
