Hyderabad: Construction of Charminar’s multi-level parking complex to begin soon

The 400-year-old Hyderbad monument Charminar lacks any proper car parking area, making it difficult for tourists to park their vehicles when they visit the monument.

This is why detailed plans for a multi-level parking complex at the Charminar bus stand have been developed to ease the parking difficulties of residents and tourists alike.

When the state of Andhra Pradesh was unified, a plan existed to turn a government building into a parking complex. However, the project never materialized.

As Telangana separated from Andhra Pradesh, special attention is being paid to restoring its historic monuments. In this regard, the minister of Municipal Administration and its principal secretary D Arvind are taking a special interest.

The Charminar bus stand was demolished to make room for temporary parking. However, the entire bus stand area is filthy and full of garbage.

Recently, a netizen sent a picture of a garbage pile to KTR and Arvind Kumar requesting assistance with parking.

D Arvind had assured the public that a multi-level car parking facility will be built near the iconic Charminar monument in the near future. The Municipal Administration will take up this project soon, according to him.

In his response, D Arvind Kumar future stated that, in response to Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s proposal, an HMDA team visited Coimbatore to review the multi-level parking facility there, and that a multi-level parking design is being prepared, with work on the project beginning soon.

Recently, the GHMC had also started taking full measures by setting up retaining walls in the Charminar area, which flooded last year, with Rs 1,000 crore sanctioned under the Strategic Nala Development Project (SNDP).

Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, and Hyderabad District Collector L Sharman paid a visit to NBT Nagar. Speaking on the occasion, the mayor stated that the city’s urban development program is benefiting the people.
