Hyderabad: GHMC to hold summer camps from April 25

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) summer coaching camps will be held from April 25 to May 31 in various sports disciplines after a two-year hiatus. The Covid pandemic prevented the camps from being held for the past two years.

As things return to normal, the civic body will host coaching camps for children across its 520 playgrounds, 17 sports complexes, 11 roller skating rinks, seven pools, and five tennis courts. The inauguration ceremony is likely to be attended by several Ministers, the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor, MPs, MLAs, and local officials.

Camps will provide training in 45 different sports to children aged six to 16 at more than 700 centres. Camps will take place daily between 6 and 8 a.m.

More than 35 lakh people have benefited from these camps, including former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin and star shuttler PV Sindhu, who became international stars in their respective sports.
