Hyderabad metro issues guidelines for passengers on Ind-Aus match day

With the city preparing for the T20 match between India and Australia on Sunday, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has extended rail service on the day of the match.

Special trains will be accessible from Stadium Metro station at 11 p.m. on Sunday, with the last train leaving at 1 a.m. on September 26. From Ameerpet and JBS Parade Grounds, there will be connecting trains.

HMRL officials issued guidelines stating that during special train service, entries are permitted only at Uppal, Stadium, and NGRI metro stations. All other stations would be restricted to exits only.

“We encourage customers to purchase return tickets in advance or, at the very least, as they exit the stadium metro station before attending the game.” Customers are also encouraged to use smart cards for convenience and to avoid queuing,” the company added.

The note also stated that digital tickets would not be sold after regular hours. Existing tickets purchased before 10:15 p.m. would be valid until the closing of business from Uppal, Stadium, and NGRI stations only.

Trains to and from the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal are also expected to increase on a need basis throughout the day.

The state government has decided to deploy 2,500 police personnel and 300 CCTV cameras for surveillance and security at the venue, which will host the third T20 international cricket match between India and Australia on Sunday at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The game is a series decider because both teams have won one match.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat stated that scanners have been installed at the stadium to facilitate the detection of explosives and other prohibited materials.

During the game, he said, separate teams will monitor the movement of anti-social elements among the spectators.
