Hyderabad Police arrest 3 people for betting on Women’s T20

As per the latest reports, the Hyderabad Police arrested three people after busting a cricket betting racket. The police also recovered Rs 25 lakh in cash and other items.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srinivas Reddy said that on Monday, Kachiguda Police, along with the Commissioner’s Task Force, the West Zone team, took three accused persons into custody who were identified as Neeraj Jain, Amit Sarda and Narayan Das who had been found to have been running online cricket betting in the limits of Kachiguda Police Station for the ongoing Women’s T20 Challenge-2022 match.

The police had seized net cash of Rs 25 lakhs, 11 Line Phones, six unused cell phones, five personal mobile phones, and other incriminating materials from their possession.

“They were betting on the ongoing Women’s IPL matches and collecting money from punters,” added DCP (East) C Sathish, informing that Jain and Sarda were earlier arrested in similar cases.

Neeraj Jain and Amit Sarda are reported to be natives of Hyderabad and were arrested previously in connection with the cricket betting case. Narayan Das hails from Puranapool, a district in Hyderabad. He is currently working with Neeraj Jain and Amit Sarda.

The accused persons, Neeraj Jain and Amit Sarda were said to be close friends and used to organize cricket betting within Hyderabad’s limits in an organized manner for the purpose of earning money illegally.

It was reported that during the year 2019, both the accused persons were arrested under Cr. No.18/2019 under Section 3 & 4 of the TS Gaming Act-1974 (Cricket betting) in Rajendranagar PS, Cyberabad, and in the year 2020, the accused Neeraj Jain was arrested under Cr. No.473/2020 under Section 3 & 4 of the TS Gaming Act-1974 (Cricket betting) in Jubilee Hills PS, Hyderabad City.
