Hyderabad: Six Urban Forest Parks all set for inauguration on Thursday

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) will open six Urban Forest Parks to the public on Thursday as part of its environmental conservation efforts in Hyderabad.

The six parks include Nagaram Forest Park, Pallegadda Forest Park, Sirigiripuram Forest Park in Maheshwaram Mandal, Srinagar Forest Park in Thukkuguda Municipality, Manyamkancha Forest Park in Kandukur, and Tumaloor Forest Park in Maheswaram are among the urban forest parks that will open.

According to HMDA officials, the goal of the urban forest park is to provide complete protection to forest land, conserve local biodiversity, develop forests within the park and provide recreational and educational opportunities to the local population, help conserve water in the area, provide people with the necessary lung space and relief, reduce pollution, and increase greenery in the area.

HMDA is transforming urban forest blocks in and around cities and towns into Urban Forest Parks, which will not only provide the necessary lung space for the cities and towns but will also contribute to the growth of smart, clean, green, sustainable, and healthy cities in the State.

In addition to the greenery, walkways have been built, and several visitor amenities have been made available in the parks.

These parks have CRS and see-through walls, an entry plaza, and ticket counter, a visitors pathway, a safari track, an interpretation shed, gazebos, washrooms, watchtowers, seating arrangements, and plantations. Under the Telanganaku Haritha Haram, the government has decided to develop these Forest Blocks into urban forest parks.

Nagaram Forest Park in Maheshwaram Mandal is spread over 556.69 hectares, while Sirigiripuram Forest Park is spread over 102.39 hectares. At Lemoor village in Kandukur, the Manyamkancha Forest park covers 58.78 hectares, while at Srinagar village in Thukkuguda Municipality, the Srinagar Forest park covers 526.91 hectares. At Harshaguda village of Maheshwaram, the Pallegadda Forest Park covers 87.41 hectares.
