Hyderabad: State govt plans to beautify and open Mir Alam Tank Bund for citizens

On Monday, the state government announced plans to renovate, beautify, and open the Mir Alam Tank Bund to pedestrians.

The 5.5 km bund was inspected by MAUD special chief secretary Arvind Kumar and City Lok Sabha MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. Kumar shed more light on the matter by posting an image map of the restoration work on his official Twitter page. The image depicts how the restoration work will be divided into five projects. The first project will cover the Other Necklace Road, which will be home to a flea market and a skill development center.

Water Zen is the name of the second project. This project will include kayaking and row boating. The third project, dubbed Cluster Park, will be an open space for pedestrians and walkers.

The fourth project, Dargah Precints, will host local festivities and serve as a daily commute route for citizens. Musical Fountain Park is the fifth project.

Tolichowki monsoon works

Monsoon works under the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP) are underway at a brisk pace in Tolichowki and are expected to be completed before the monsoon arrives, ensuring that there is no flood-like situation this monsoon. Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin inspected the SNDP works in the Tolichowki division and discussed the development of nalas in the constituency with the GHMC Superintendent engineer and SNDP officials.

Construction of a box type drain at Bal Reddy Nagar and Virasat Nagar in the Tolichowki division is part of the project. The officials inspected the works in Nadeem Colony, Tolichowki, Hakeempet, and the surrounding areas and directed that they be completed as soon as possible before the arrival of the monsoon.

Residents say they are still afraid of flooding because the area has experienced significant flooding in recent years. During the monsoon, the ground floor of many buildings is usually empty,” says MohdIshaq of Virasat Nagar.

MLA Kausar said that concerted efforts are being made to expedite the work, with corporators and GHMC officials regularly monitoring them to ensure a free flow of rainwater during the monsoon.
