Hyderabad: State govt providing free water supply up to 20,000 litres for residents

As a step toward fulfilling the state government’s poll promise, Telangana is providing ‘free’ water to domestic consumers up to 20,000 liters (20KL).

All Domestic-Slum, Domestic-Individual, Domestic-Multi Storeyed Building (MSB)/Bulk connections are eligible for a free water supply of 20 KL (20000 litThose with slum connections are not required to fix meters for taking advantage of the scheme. However, those with individual, MSB/bulk connections need to have “Functional Meters Fixed” for taking advantage of the scheme.

Mohd Asadullah Khan, a resident of Masab Tank, thanked the state government for providing good facilities.

Getting clean water and good facilities is a daily occurrence and the government is doing a good job of providing these services. Drinking water is now provided for free by the government, so there is no need to pay even a single rupee for the water bill. The Telangana government is doing a great job taking care of poor people like us, he said.

KCR implemented many welfare schemes for poor people after he became Chief Minister. It is fortunate for the state that KCR has become CM since joining the movement. All the dams and reservoirs in Telangana State are filled with water after good rains. Telangana residents are happy with him,” he further added

Mohd Idris, another resident, said that the free water supply benefited the poor.

Telangana government and KCR deserve praise for providing free water to residents. It has been one and a half to two years since we paid the water bill. People like us who are poor benefit from this scheme. There was a water shortage before KCR became Chief Minister, but now there is no shortage, he said.

According to KCR’s manifesto for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election in 2020, the city would provide free water of up to 20,000 liters to domestic consumers.
