Heavy rains disrupt daily life in Hyderabad

Normal life continued to be disrupted in some parts of the city on Wednesday, as the state had been battered by incessant rains for several days. The Telangana State Development Planning Society reported moderate to light rains in several localities on Wednesday, citing rainfall data up to 8 a.m.

At 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the reservoirs at Himayath Sagar and Osman Sagar in the city were close to the FTL (Full Tank Level). Following heavy rain in the catchment areas over the last few days, the Musi river, which flows through Hyderabad, was in spate. Due to the high volume of water in the river, the bridges at Moosarambagh and Chaderghat have been closed.

Water logging caused inconvenience in residential areas such as LB Nagar and Malakpet. The IMD Met Centre said in its weather forecast and warnings that heavy rain is very likely in isolated places in Bhadradri-Kothagudem Khammam, Nalgonda, and other districts.

Following heavy rain in some parts of the state and a forecast of more rain, Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar held a video conference with district collectors and senior officials on Tuesday and asked them to be on high alert.
