Hyderabad to experience rainfall for next 4 days: IMD

In a recent statement, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that Hyderabad would receive rain until July 22 with the torrential rains lashing the State for the past few days.

The city is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall over the next four days, according to the forecast. Telangana’s other districts may also see rainfall until Friday, in addition to Hyderabad. It is even possible for some places to experience heavy rain.

In the meantime, the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) anticipates light to moderate rains until July 21 across the state.

According to the forecast, the maximum and minimum temperatures will range from 30-33 degrees Celsius and 20-23 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The GHMC area is also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall. 29-31 degrees Celsius and 20-22 degrees Celsius are likely to be the maximum and minimum temperatures, respectively.

In the period from June 1 to July 15, all districts of Telangana received more rainfall than usual, according to the TSDPS.

Doppler radar to be operational by next week

Hyderabad’s Doppler radar hasn’t been working for a month, making giving weather forecasts difficult.

In the monsoon season, Doppler radars are one of the most important forecasting tools. By sending electromagnetic waves to clouds, these radars can determine the intensity of rain bands based on the frequency received back by the sensors.

This is the first time the radar has been down for this long, according to Dr. K Nagaratna, Director of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) – Hyderabad. It is expected that a few damaged radar parts worth Rs 25 lakhs will be imported by Monday.

In the absence of radar, the weather department relies on other tools such as light observation, synoptic charts, and models, she said, adding that wind patterns are also checked using radars from other places.
