Hyderabad: TRS govt provides itself with land for new office

As part of the plans to establish a new office in Hyderabad, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government has provided itself with a plot of government land in Banjara Hills.

In accordance with Government Order (GO) dated May 11, a 4935 square yard plot in NBT Nagar, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, has been allocated to the TRS party. There are reports that the property is worth between Rs 100 crores and Rs 140 crores.

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) announced in 2018 that the state government will allocate land for political parties’ offices. Every district headquarters will have a maximum of one acre of land, which will cost Rs 100 per yard. Party offices will also be exempt from property tax.

KCR presided over a meeting of the state cabinet in which the decision was made. The ruling TRS party already has an office in Hyderabad, known as Telangana Bhavan, which is located at Banjara Hills. Pakkali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader S Ramadoss inaugurated it in 2006 at KCR’s invitation. Since then, the 40,000 square feet building has served as the party’s headquarters.

Also recently, the Chief Minister KCR laid the foundation stone for the TRS building in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, called Telangana Bhavan, scheduled for completion in September of 2021.

Last year, the Centre had allotted land in Delhi for a TRS office, however, the foundation stone laying was delayed due to COVID-19.

In the southern state, there are 18000 accredited journalists.

Kavitha, the MLC from Telangana, told ANI that the state is the only one to have accredited 18,000 journalists.

The CM (K. Chandrashekar Rao) has put Rs 100cr for journalists’ welfare,” ANI quoted MLC K. Kavitha as saying on Sunday.
