India Records Over 2 Lakh Covid 19 Cases In 24 Hours For The Third Consecutive Day In A Row

As per the latest update, India has reported a total of 2,34,692 fresh Covid 19 cases in the past 24 hours. This is the highest single-day spike ever.

Health Ministry Releases Data For Covid 19 Cases In India

As per the latest data released by the Health Ministry of India, the total number of Covid cases in India currently stands at 1,45,26,609. This is the third day in a row when Covid tally has registered over 2 lakh Covid cases.

On Thursday the total number of cases recorded were 2,00,739 and on Friday the tally was 2,17,353. Furthermore, in the past 24 hours, the total number of Covid 19 deaths reported were 1341. The country’s death toll reached 1,75,649.

At the same time, a total of 1,23,354 Covid 19 patients have been recovered and the total recoveries now stand at 1,26,71,220. The recovery rate is 87.23 percent. Reports suggest that so far 26,49,72,022 samples have been tested across the country.

The government data also revealed that a total of 30,04,544 people have been vaccinated within the same time period. This pushes the Covid 19 vaccination drive count to 11,99,37,641.

So far, both Delhi and Maharashtra have recorded the biggest single-day rise in the Covid 19 cases ever since the early 2020. Delhi recently reported a total of 19,486 new Covid 19 cases on Friday night.

The five most affected state affected by the Covid 19 are Maharashtra (3,703,584), Kerala (1,197,301), Karnataka (1,109,650), Tamil Nadu (962,935), and Andhra Pradesh (942,135).

Delhi Imposes Weekend Curfew and Maharashtra Announces Another Lockdown

With the alarming numbers of the Covid 19 cases, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently announced Weekend Curfew across Delhi. He said that the curfew will start from 10 pm on Friday till Monday 6 am. However, essential services and emergency cases will be given an exception.

At the same time, Maharashtra has announced yet another lockdown across the state. However, this time, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is taking a different approach after he was accused of being “unilateral” during the 2020 lockdown.

Before imposing the lockdown, Thackeray warned the public on multiple occasions for a possible lockdown in future. The current lockdown is of 15 days. After consulting with stakeholders, the CM announced a relief package of Rs 5000 crores for the groups who will be directly affected by the lockdown.

The relief package promises free meals under the existing scheme Shiv Bhojan. Along with 3kg wheat and 2kg of rice free of cost. The registered construction workers, street vendors and autorickshaw owners will also get Rs 1500.
