“Indian can go to Haj only after getting both vaccine doses”- HCI

As per the latest development in terms of this year’s Haj permission for Indians, the chief body overlooking the process- HCI (Haj Committee of India)- announced the ban of those Indian Muslims from the pilgrimage journey who haven’t got the 2 vaccine jabs of COVID 19 to safeguard themselves and others.

As such, only those will be permitted to proceed with their annual Haj who have inoculated themselves.

The new update was made by the body’s CEO Maqsood Ahmed Khan on Thursday night after the HCI received the orders from Saudi Arabia’s Health Ministry and the Indian Consulate General located in Jeddah.

Hence, in order to be eligible to go forward with the pilgrimage journey slated this year in the month of July, the CEO advised those who applied for 2021’s Haj to get their first dose of vaccine now so that they can take the next one before they take off for the Gulf country.

Nevertheless, Mr. Khan cleared the air that no formal declaration has yet been sent from the Saudi Arabian officials on the part of Haj, adding that the entire plan will only get into action after they receive the permission of the authorities.

In 2021, the highest-ranked pilgrimage for a Muslim, the Haj, is falling on July 17th as per the Islamic calendar.

“In case Indian pilgrims perform Haj-2021, outgoing flights will start from mid-June,” he said.

Last year, worshipped were not allowed to perform Haj due to the peak of coronavirus of 2020. Not only Indians, but citizens of all countries could not go for the pilgrimage in view of the pandemic. This year, India has been hit with a much worse situation as the second wave is engulfing many more people than it did the previous time.

The COVID this year has taken an even deadlier turn with hundreds of people dying every day. India has also recorded its highest-ever COVID cases number crossing 2 lakhs.
