Interstate Drug Peddler Arrested in Rangareddy for Opium Trafficking

Rangareddy: The Maheshwaram Zone Special Operations Team (SOT), in collaboration with Adibatla police, has disrupted a drug trafficking network by apprehending an interstate drug peddler named Mahender Singh.

The accused, who was born in Rajasthan, moved to Hyderabad a decade ago and worked as a pawnbroker. Financial losses as a result of the lockout forced him to turn to drug production and distribution as a source of criminal income.

Mahender Singh is said to have started cultivating opium in his hometown’s garden, selling it to locals and transferring it to Hyderabad. He concealed the opium in goods such as chili powder and millets and carried it using private buses. He supplied the opium to buyers in Hyderabad for Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 every 10 kilos.

The operation represents a substantial accomplishment in destroying the drug trafficking network and reducing illegal drug distribution.
